ITC is collaborating with IIT Delhi to develop a Geographical Information Systems (GIS) tool to track, monitor and identify areas where stubble-burning is practised and where it is not. ITC has run this holistic farm-based intervention for 4 years in Punjab, and it has demonstrated that this hazardous practice can be reduced by 89.7%. The programme raised farmer incomes, productivity and reduced cultivation cost, a Times of India article reports.
